Breastfeeding and the HCG Diet
During pregnancy, many women tend to gain weight. A small amount of weight gain is normal during pregnancy and healthy for your baby. After pregnancy, women may tend to want to lose their excess weight. This is understandable. The HCG diet is a great way to do so.
However, if you are breastfeeding, it would be best to consult your physician before beginning the HCG diet. It’s not so much that the HCG might harm your baby. It’s the fact that you will have to maintain a diet of 500 calories a day. This could be problematic because while you’rebreastfeeding, you will already be burning about that much from the nursing alone. This could affect the nutritional value of your milk and leave your baby hungry.
There are some that feel that it’s alright to breastfeed and do the HCG diet at the same time. Our best advice? Ask your doctor. A consultation with a physician is necessary before you begin any diet, no matter who you are or what the diet is.
