Drinking Alcohol on the HCG Diet

Alcohol provides empty calories, but also a quick fix to hunger, as Dr. A.T.W. Simeons observed when he developed the HCG diet drops regimen for weight loss. The HCG diet pioneer saw sweets and alcohol as quick fixes for hunger:

No end of injustice is done to obese patients by accusing them of compulsive eating, which is a form of diverted sex gratification. Most obese patients do not suffer from compulsive eating; they suffer genuine hunger-real, gnawing, torturing hunger-which has nothing whatever to do with compulsive eating. Even their sudden desire for sweets is merely the result of the experience that sweets, pastries and alcohol will most rapidly of all foods allay the pangs of hunger. This has nothing to do with diverted instincts.

In the course of his clinical treatment of obesity based on HCG diet drops, Dr. Simeons observed quite a few heavy drinkers and alcoholics launch themselves on the HCG diet.

In Dr. Simeons book, Pounds and Inches, he concluded:

Obese heavy drinkers, even those bordering on alcoholism, often do surprisingly well under HCG and it is exceptional for them to take a drink while under treatment. When they do, they find that a relatively small quantity of alcohol produces intoxication. Such patients say that they do not feel the need to drink This may in part be due to the euphoria which the treatment produces and in part to the complete absence of the need for quick sustenance from which most obese patients suffer.

So alcohol as a quick hunger fix is no longer a problem for most all who undergo the official HCG diet plan to gain control of their weight. Dr. Simeons, however, also observed that many will go back to drinking after they've lost the needed pounds. Some, he said, will drink while trying to control their weight, while others will overdo it and have to go back on the HCG diet plan.

Bottom line, sticking to the HCG diet drops and the official HCG diet plan will work even if a person has a hunger for sweets and alcohols. However, one must also restrain oneself as alcoholic and sweet beverages contain calories and substances that will subvert your the HCG diet drops and your very low calorie diet (VLCD).
