Exercising While on the HCG Diet Plan

Everyone knows that exercise is important in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and that is also true of every phase of the HCG diet except Phase 2. During this phase, strenuous exercise is discouraged. If you exercise during Phase 2 of the HCG diet, your body, which is surviving on only 500 calories a day, may go into starvation mode. This means that your body may hold on to the fat stores it was previously using in place of the missing calories. This, in turn, may cause your weight loss to decline or even stop altogether.


While you are on the oral HCG diet, it is recommended that the most exercise you participate in is some light walking. When you are through Phase 2, and beginning to incorporate more calories back into your diet, it is safe to begin a moderate exercise regimen again. Suggested exercises include speed walking or light jogging and the light use of free weights. It is very important to remember that strenuous exercise is not recommended for any phase of the HCG diet.
